Alyssa Czapla joined the Irwin Academic Services team as an Academic Counselor for the Fighting Illini football program in June 2022 after previously working at Des Moines Area Community College on a Department of Labor Grant aimed to promote short-term training certificates to increase 18-24 year-olds in the workforce.  

Preceding her time working on the grant, Czapla served as an Academic Coordinator for Iowa State University's football, women's tennis and men's track & field teams. Czapla also spent time as an Academic Advisor at the University of Oklahoma.  

Originally from Iowa, Czapla attended Iowa State University and earned her bachelor's degree in speech communications with a minor in journalism.  She then attended the University of Oklahoma where she earned her master's of education in adult and higher education with an emphasis in intercollegiate athletics administration.  While in graduate school, Czapla served as a graduate assistant in the Prentice Guatt Academic Center working with OU's football and women's gymnastics teams.
