The University of Illinois will be celebrating its 100th season of basketball during the 2004-05 school year. This year-long celebration will feature many special events, as well as several opportunities to recognize and remember the great Fighting Illini players and moments of the last century.

To kick off the basketball centennial, the University of Illinois Division of Intercollegiate Athletics (DIA) is asking help from its fans in selecting the prestigious Fighting Illini All-Century Team. We are looking forward to honoring the greatest 15 players in Illinois history. The award winners will be announced and honored during the 2004-05 season, but we want your help now, during this season, in order to select the team members.

All of the 83 nominees selected for the ballot met at least one of the following criteria:

• All-America Distinction (1st, 2nd, 3rd Team or Honorable Mention)
• First Team All-Big Ten
• Career Top 30 Scorer at the University of Illinois
• Ranks among the Top Five in school history in one of the following categories: field goals, rebounds, assists, steals, blocks

The nominees are all listed chronologically and are separated into three eras (by coaches). Era One spans from 1906-1947. Era Two lists players from 1948-1975. Era Three covers 1976-present. The final 15-person All-Century Team will be comprised of a minimum of three players from each of the three Eras.

There are only a few guidelines that each voter should be aware of:

• Voting may occur online between Feb. 18 – April 5
• Fans are only allowed to vote once
• They will be able to vote for 15 players, however they must vote for at least three players from each Era. The remaining six "at-large" votes can be from any Era or can be divided among Eras.
• If fans wish to vote for a player who is not listed on the ballot, they may use their at-large votes to "write-in" players at the end of the ballot. All Fighting Illini letter winners are eligible for the All-Century Team.
• The DIA and the DIA's All-Century Committee will use the votes to guide in the selection of the All-Century Team.
