MEET PREVIEW
Illinois will head to DeKalb, Ill., for the NCAA Midwest Regional Championships on Saturday, Nov. 12. The 6K race is slated to begin at 1:15 p.m. Illinois has finished in the top three at the meet for seven of the past eight years, including three straight runner-up showings from 2007-2009 and the meet title in 2006. Two seasons ago, Angela Bizzarri became the second Illini to win the NCAA Midwest Regional individual title, joining Cassie Hunt as a regional champion.

The top two finishing teams receive an automatic berth to the NCAA National Championships, as well the top four runners who are not a part of a team that qualifies for nationals. The NCAA National Championships will be hosted by Indiana State University on Nov. 21 at Terre Haute, Ind.

COACH RASMUSSEN ON THE MEET
"After a dissapointing showing for us at the Big Ten Championships last weekend we've been training significantly better. I think the girls are ready for some redemption and this Saturday's race will be the test to show everyone that we're okay. If we emerse ourselves in the competition, we will be successful. The last two big meets we didn't do that and compete to the best if our ability. If we can get into our competition this weekend, everything else will take care of itself. We really need to buy into running with our teammates and helping each other out. We've talked all year round about having success as a team and that won't change going into Saturday's race. We have a few girls who can run to their full potential and be up there with the rest of the lead pack."
