The Illinois women's track and field team will send 11 athletes in seven events to Eugene, Ore, for the 2013 NCAA Outdoor Championships from June 5-8 at Heyward Stadium. The Illini will be represented by freshman Morolake Akinosun in the 100m & 200m, defending NCAA 400m champion Ashley Spencer, junior's Samantha Murphy and Amanda Duvendack in the 800m, senior Marissa Golliday in the high jump, junior Stephanie Richartz in the pole vault and the 4x400m relay of Golliday, Akinosun, Ashley Spencer and junior Ahlivia Spencer.
Spencer will look to defend her 400m title this weekend as she currently holds the fastest collegiate time in the event (50.88). The Indianapolis, Ind., native is a 12-time Big Ten Champion and a three-time All-American. Spencer will run the anchor leg on the 4x400m relay along with Golliday, Akinosun and her sister Ahlivia. The relay, which advanced to nationals for the second consecutive season, turned in its top performance of the season at the NCAA West Prelims, setting a school record of 3:30.76.
Akinosun will compete in three events this weekend, as she is the only freshman to qualify in both the 100m and 200m. Also running in their first NCAA Championships are Duvendack and Murphy in the 800m. Murphy comes into the weekend with the second fastest time (2:03.88) while Duvendack owns the eighth best (2:05.07). After earning All-America honors indoors, Golliday (high jump) and Richartz (pole vault) will look to earn the same outdoors.

Clinched a berth to the NCAA Championships for the first time in her career after placing second overall in the 100m (11.59) and seventh in the 200m (23.56) ... Her 100m qualifying time is seeded 14th out of the 24 entrants and her 200m time is 17th... Only freshman to qualify for national meet in both events ... Scored points for the Illini at the Big Ten Championships, placing second in the 100m and eighth in the 200m.

Amanda Duvendack (Metamora, Ill.) - 800m
Clinched a berth to the NCAA Championships for the first time in her career after finishing seventh overall with her fastest 800m time (2:05.07) of her career ... Her qualifying time is seeded eighth out of the 24 entrants and is third fastest in school history ... Scored points for the Illini at the Big Ten Championships, placing fifth in the 800m.

Marissa Golliday (Oak Lawn, Ill.) - High Jump & 4x400m Relay
Will compete at the NCAA Outdoor Championships for the first time in career ... Qualified in the high jump with a mark of 5-8 3/4 (1.75m) and will run the lead leg in the 4x400m relay which broke the school record at NCAA West Prelims with a time of 3:30.76 ... Finished third in the heptathlon at the Big Ten Championships and was also a part of the 4x400m relay Big Ten champions.

Samantha Murphy (Perth, Ontario) - 800m
Earned her first trip to the NCAA Championships in the 800m by qualifying the fastest time out of the NCAA West Preliminary Round with a lifetime best time of 2:03.88, which is seeded second ... Garnered All-Big Ten honors for the first time following her Big Ten title in the 800m ... Her PR time ranks second in school history.

Stephanie Richartz (Island Lake, Ill.) - Pole Vault
Earned a berth to the NCAA Championships for the first time in her career after competing in a jump-off for the 12th and final qualifying spot ... Richartz notched a mark of 13-1 3/4 (4.01m) in the NCAA West Prelims ... The junior defended her Big Ten pole vault title as she has now won three consecutive conference titles in the event (2012 outdoors, 2013 indoors, 2013 outdoors).

Ashley Spencer (Indianapolis, Ind.) - 400m, 4x400m Relay
Will look to defend her NCAA 400m title as she posted the fastest qualifying time at NCAA West Prelims with a mark of 50.88 ... Her qualifying time is the fastest in the nation and eighth in the world... Defended her three Big Ten outdoor titles (200, 400m, 4x400m) and was named Big Ten Track Athlete of the Year and of the Championships.
