CHAMPAIGN, Ill. -- The Illinois women's track and field team will head to Des Moines, Iowa for the prestigious Drake Relays from Thursday, April 24 through Saturday, April 26. The Illini are entered in 18 events, including seven relays. The meet features colleges and universities from all over the country, including No. 5 Georgia, No. 9 Arkansas, No. 12 Kansas, No. 14 San Diego State, No. 18 Baylor, No. 19 Washington and No. 22 Washington, as well as Big Ten opponents Iowa, Purdue, Minnesota, Ohio State, Wisconsin and Nebraska.

Action begin Thursday with Amanda Fox in the 10,000m, followed by Stephanie Morgan in the 5,000m. On Friday, Jesica Ejesieme, Kawanna Brooks and Mobolaji Adeokun will compete in the 100m hurdles. Ejesieme currently holds the second-fastest 110m hurdles time in the Big Ten. The senior will also compete in the 400m hurdles, and holds the third-fastest time in the conference in the event. Representing the Illini in the 800m will be Chloe Schmidt and Ahlivia Spencer, who hold the fourth and fifth-fastest times in the Big Ten. Kandie Bloch-Jones (high jump) and Mariah Smith (discus) each hold the best marks in the Big Ten in their respective events and will compete on Friday. Illinois will also compete in three relays on Friday, including prelims of the 4x100m and 4x400m, as well as the 4x800m final.

Illinois will begin Saturday with the prelims of the shuttle hurdle relay, with the finals taking place a few hours later. The quad will then compete in the sprint medley relay and distance medley relay finals, while the 4x100m and 4x400m finals will take place a few hours later. Britten Petrey looks to win her fourth consecutive event title in the 3,000m steeplechase, while Stephanie Morgan will run the 1,500m. Jennifer DeBellis will compete in the pole vault, and Samone Thompson will participate in the heptathlon for the first time in her career.
