SOUTH BEND, Ind. - Stephanie Richartz qualified for the NCAA Indoor Championships after setting a new school record with her vault of 13-11 (4.24m) at Notre Dame's Alex Wilson Invitational. Richartz took first place in the event, marking her fifth crown in the event this season. Her mark is tied for 12th best in the nation and tops the Big Ten.

"Her performance was great," assistant coach Mike Erb said. "We really focused on achieving the NCAA automatic qualifying mark. She jumped really well and was one of the better vaulters competing. She had some third attempt finishes that were tough, but she eventually got over the hump."

Richartz now joins six other Illini athletes at the national championships with the 4x400m relay team of freshmen Asia Thomas, and Ashley Spencer and seniors Ashley Kelly and Latoya Griffith as well as sophomore's Jesica Ejesieme and Breeana Coleman. The NCAA Indoor Championships will be held March 9-10 in Boise, Idaho.
