    PEORIA, Ill. - The Fighting Illini women's cross country team rolled past the competition at the Bradley Open in Peoria, Ill., on Friday, winning the three-mile race with 16 points. Junior Madeline Aufmann took first place overall with a time of 17:13, marking the first individual crown of her career. The Illini placed all nine runners in the top 15, including the top four collegiate runners.

    "Overall, I'm very happy with our results tonight," cross country coach Rasmussen said. "It was a good step in the right direction with our young group. There was a bit of hesitation at the beginning, but I thought the girls looked really good throughout the race. They all showed good composure which is a really positive sign for things to come."

    Sophomores Katie Porada (17:17) and Meghan Frigo (17:22) finishing in second and third overall, respectively in both runners season debut. Freshman Colette Falseycrossed the finish line fourth overall, just a second behind Frigo in a time of 17:23.

    In just their second competition as an Fighting Illini, freshmen Chloe Schmidt and Britten Petreyearned top-10 finishes, with Schmidt finishing sixth overall in a time of 17:28 and Petrey in 17:53.

    "I thought Chloe Schmidtshowed the biggest improvement," Rasmussen said. "Most of the girls running had ran the course before, but it was her first. She did a lot of really good things. She has an outstanding amount of talent and I look forward to seeing her improve with the weeks to come."

    Meagan Hynes, Stacy Hague, and Megumi Hoshitook 13th, 14th and 15th, respectively. Hynes (18:05) and Hoshi (18:17) recorded their first top-15 finish of the season, while Hague finished her first race of the season in a time of 18:10.

    The Illini return home to run the Big Ten Championship course as they host the Orange and Blue Preview on Friday, Sept. 16 at 4:30 p.m. CT.
