Ejesieme Advances to Quarterfinals on Day One of NCAA West Prelims

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The Fighting Illini women's track and field team wrapped up day one of the NCAA West Preliminary Round of Championship with Jesica Ejesieme qualifying for the quarterfinals in the 400m hurdles. Four Illini await first-round competition, as Ejesieme will join Mobolaji Adeokun in the 100m hurdles, while Mariah Smith and Jazjuan Wallace-Sipp will compete in the discus tomorrow.
Jesica Ejesieme qualified for the quarterfinals in the 400m hurdles. The senior finished runner-up in her heat with a season-best time of 57.97 to automatically secure a spot in tomorrow's quarterfinal, set to take place t 7:45 p.m. CT. Ahlivia Spencer and Chloe Schmidt competed in the 800m and just missed a spot in tomorrow's quarterfinal. Spencer clocked a time of 2:08.88 to finish 22nd, just one spot away from securing a spot in the quarterfinal, while Schmidt took 23rd with a time of 2:09.51.
