Adam Bray will assist the Illinois women's cross country and track and field team after spending the past two seasons assisting the men's squad at Illinois. During his time with the Illini men, the cross country squad placed fifth at the 2010 NCAA Midwest Regional, matching their highest finish since 2002.
Before coming to Illinois, Bray served as a volunteer assistant at the University of Maryland and the University of Akron. At Maryland, his main focus was the men's and women's cross country and track and field middle-distance and distance runners. He spent a year as the graduate assistant for the Zips during the 2005-2006 seasons. During that time, the Zips won the Mid-American Conference cross country, indoor and outdoor track team titles. He also worked as an academic counselor in the athletic department at Kent State during the 2006-07 season.
Bray was a member of the University of Akron track and field and cross country teams from 2000-2005 where he was a four-year letterwinner and captain. He graduated from the University of Akron in 2005 with a bachelor's degree in education, and went on to receive his master's degree from Akron in sports science in 2006. Originally from Ohio, he currently resides in Urbana, Ill.
