Illini compete in final race before NCAA Midwest Regionals
Elizabeth Boyle begins her second season as the volunteer cross country coach for the women's program. Boyle came to Illinois after running with the Hansons Brooks Distance Project in Michigan for a year.
Boyle returns to her alma mater after competing for the Illini from 2007 to 2011. During her time in cross country, she was a two-time All-Region runner and was part of the 2009 All-Big Ten Team. She also scored points for the team during the 2008 and 2009 NCAA Championships, placing 10th and 12th, respectively.
On the track, Boyle broke the 29-year old school record in the 10,000m in 2011. She also holds top 10 all-time performances in the 3,000m, 5,000m and 10,000m, scoring points at the Big Ten Championships in those respective events.
Academically, she was a two-time Big Ten Distinguished Scholar Award receipient and earned Academic All-Big Ten honors three times during her collegiate career. Boyle also earned All-Academic Track and Field honors in 2010 and 2011.
Boyle is from Elmhurst, Ill., and attended Fenwick HS in Oak Park, Illinois.
