Illinois' women's cross country `B' team ran an outstanding race Saturday at the 5K Lakefront Invite in Chicago. The team, comprised of freshmen and sophomores, has made extraordinary strides in the three weeks since their last meet. Six Fighting Illini runners posted personal best performances, led for the second meet in a row by sophomore Michelle LaMantia, who set a new career-high mark, 18:45, by 28 seconds.

Next for the Illini was Erin Frommeyer, whose time of 18:53 marked a new career high of 47 seconds. Following her was classmate Katie Coppin with a 23 second PR of 19:17 and former high school teammate Erin Partridge in 19:27, a 43 second improvement on her best time.

Elise Stott was the Illini's next finisher, coming in at 19:47, 15 seconds ahead of her old mark. Natalie Young was the final Illini to PR, running 19:59, lowering her mark by 35 seconds.

The Illini are back in action next weekend at the Saluki Invite in Carbondale, Ill.
