Kelly Ann Smith joins the coaching staff for her second year as an undergraduate volunteer coach with the women's track and field and cross country teams after spending two years as a student-athlete. As a senior majoring in English and Political Science, Smith also tutors at Irwin Academic Services, the student-athlete academic facility, volunteers with second graders at Garden Hill Elementary and is a member of Phi Eta Sigma honors fraternity.
The Glenview, Illinois native was a four year letter-winner in both cross country and track at Loyola Academy. She holds both the mile (5:19) and 800m (2:18) school record and was the first individual to compete at the state meet in cross country from her high school. Smith earned all-conference honors and helped her team win the GCAC conference title in both sports several years in a row.
As an athlete at Illinois, Smith earned the George Huff award in 2005-06, made Deans List in both 2004 and 2006 and is currently a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. Following graduation, Smith plans to attend law school.
