Champaign, Ill. - Illinois volleyball has re-emerged into the top 20 in the nation. Two players who have figured prominently in Illini volleyball in recent years, senior Kristine Anderson and junior Kylie McCulley, come from a short drive down Route 10 in Clinton, Ill. On Oct. 19, the Fighting Illini invites all residents of the town to Huff Hall for "Clinton Day."
Anyone who brings a proof of Clinton residence to the 1 p.m. match against Wisconsin will be admitted with a special $2 ticket.
McCulley starts alongside Laura DeBruler as a pass-hitter. She was named to the All-Tournament team at the State Farm Illini Classic after amassing 28 kills and 31 digs in the tournament. More recently McCulley had nine kills and hit .381 against no. 1 Penn State. That continued a string of strong performances against Penn State, which began in her collegiate start vs. the Nittany Lions. That day McCulley had 19 kills and hit .265.
Anderson is in her third year as a regular for the Fighting Illini. Despite suffering through a pair of ACL injuries, she has been a key contributor. She had 19 digs in a pair of matches at the 2007 State Farm Illini Classic and had a career-best 18 digs last season against no. 2 Penn State.
