Hillary Haen totaled 134 assists, 18 digs and five service aces at the State Farm Illini Classic

Park Ridge, Ill. - Illinois senior setter Hillary Haen has been selected as the first Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week for the 2010 season. Haen was named Most Valuable Player of the State Farm Illini Classic as Illinois won its 20th title in the 27 years of the event over the weekend.
Haen ranks second in the Big Ten in assists at 12.18 per set after posting 134 assists combined in victories over BYU, South Carolina and Middle Tennessee State. She was also part of the Illinois ace assault with five aces on the weekend and helped the Illini hit .270 as a team, including a .386 clip vs. MTSU. Haen is a Preseason All-Big Ten selection after earning Honorable Mention All-America honors in 2009.
Illinois moved up a spot in the latest AVCA/Coaches poll after getting off to a 3-0 start. The Illini will take a No. 5 national ranking into Friday's match at No. 2 Texas.
