Volleyball Announces 2014 Television Coverage
Aug. 25, 2014
Champaign, Ill. - The Big Ten Network and ESPN networks have announced their lineup for the 2014 volleyball season. BTN has chosen three Illinois matches to air live, while ESPN has selected the Illini's Oct. 18 match at Nebraska to air live online on ESPN3 as well as a tape delay on ESPN2. Additionally, when the Illini travel to Stanford for the Big Ten/Pac-12 Challenge, both of Illinois' matches will air live on the Pac-12 Network, as announced earlier this summer.
Illinois will make its 2014 television debut on Sept. 5, when the Pac-12 Network airs the Illini's battle with UCLA at 10:30 p.m. CT. The Orange and Blue will then face off against No. 3 Stanford at 1 p.m. CT on Sept. 7, also on P12N.
The Illini grace the airwaves on BTN for the first time just six days into Big Ten play, when the No. 11 Illini host No. 12 Minnesota on Wednesday, Oct. 1, at 6:30 p.m. Two weeks later, Illinois will face off with the Hawkeyes in Iowa City on BTN with an 8 p.m. start on Oct. 15. Illinois continues its road trip that Saturday, Oct. 18, to face No. 7 Nebraska at 3 p.m. The match will be streamed live on ESPN3 and air on ESPN2 the following afternoon at Noon. Illinois' final scheduled television match will be on Oct. 25, when the Illini host No. 8 Purdue on Homecoming Weekend, with an early start time of 5 p.m.
The Big Ten Network has also reserved four nights at the end of the season for wildcard matches, featuring teams that are playing for the Big Ten title or other late-season intrigue. Those dates are Oct. 31, Nov. 1, Nov. 8 and Nov. 12, with the featured matchups being selected closer to game day.
In addition to the Illini's television coverage, nearly all Illinois home matches will be streamed live on one of two online video platforms. The Orange and Blue plan to host six matches on Illini All-Access, which is housed on FightingIllini.com and requires a CBS premium subscription. These matches include Long Beach State and North Carolina during the Illini Classic, as well as Big Ten matches against Rutgers, Wisconsin, Nebraska and Michigan.
The Illini's remaining four home Big Ten matches, against Maryland, Indiana, Northwestern and Ohio State, will be steamed on the brand new BTN Plus player on BTN2Go. While streams of live televised content will continue to be accessible on BTN2Go with valid television subscription, online-only content on BTN Plus will require the purchase of a BTN Plus subscription.
Several additional away Big Ten matches will be streamed on either BTNPlus or All-Access, with the same subscriptions granting access to those videos. For the full streaming schedule and any future updates, visit FI.com.
As in past years, live audio of every Illinois volleyball match will be streamed live on Illini All-Access, available to those with the same CBS subscription. The vast majority of matches (exceptions apply when conflicting with other Illini sports) can also be heard live on WDWS 1400 AM with Dave Loane on the call, along with Mike Treme or Marla Glasser providing color commentary.
Please note the time changes to several of the televised matches. All dates, times and coverage information are subject to change. Visit FI.com for the most up-to-date information.
