Champaign, Ill. - Four Illinois signees have been named All-Americans by prepvolleyball.com. Those honored include Johannah Bangert, a 6-1 middle blocker from Washington (Mo.) High School, Laura DeBruler , a 5-10 outside hitter from Downers Grove (Ill.) North High School), Hillary Haen, a 5-10 setter from Prairie Ridge High School in Crystal Lake, Ill., and Abby Nelson, a 6-3 middle blocker from Chicago Marist High School. All four athletes are repeat winners and were ranked among the top 100 seniors in pre-season rankings by prepvolleyball.com.
Haen is among the top three setters in the nation and led Prairie Ridge to a state runner-up finish in 2004 and 2005. DeBruler brings international experience to the Illinois program, having been invited to participate in the USA Volleyball National High Performance Youth A2 Camp last year. At the camp, DeBruler was named to the first team that won the International Junior Gold Medal. Bangert was a repeat winner as an All-State selection in Missouri, helping Washington to third in the state after the Blue Jays finished fourth in 2005. In 2005, Nelson was an All-State selection by both the Chicago Tribune and Champaign News-Gazette and was named to prepvolleyball.com's list of "Top 50 Impact Recruits.
The site will release its list of top recruiting classes in the spring.
