CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - Illinois signee Jennifer Bonilla has been named to the ESPN RISE All-America First Team. Bonilla, a senior at Marymount High School in Los Angeles, was the only libero named to the first team. Bonilla was also named to the Prepvolleyball.com's "Team of the Decade" second team as the second best high school libero of the 2000s.
Bonilla has participated on the U.S. Youth National Team (coached by Jim Stone) for the past two seasons, helping the U.S. to the 2008 Youth Continental Championship while earning "best libero" of the tournament. The USA Youth National team placed 12th at the World Championships last summer.
Bonilla has been named First Team all-CIF and all-Sunshine League competing for Marymount High School (coached by Cari Klein), leading the Sailors to the Division IV state title, and joined fellow signee Jasmine Orozco on the SCVC team that won the Gold Medal in the 15 Open Division in 2007.
Bonilla was been named one of prepvolleyball.com's "Defensive Dandies" and plans to major in kinesiology at Illinois.
