    EUGENE, Ore. - Deserea Brown continued the Fighting Illini presence at the USA Track & Field Championships on Saturday, placing sixth in the 400m hurdles at Hayward Field.

    Brown timed 57.33 in the final after running a season-best 56.85 in yesterday's semifinal. Lashinda Demus cruised to the 400m hurdles national title with a time of 53.78 that set a facility record. Brown's finish followed teammate Angela Bizzarri's impressive performance the day before, as Bizzarri ran a personal-best 15:33.02 and took third in the 5,000m final.

    Ryisha Boyd was also in action at the USA Championships, competing in the junior section of the 400m and advancing to tomorrow's final. Boyd ran 55.56 in prelims to place seventh.

    At the Canadian Track & Field Championships in Toronto, former Illini Perdita Felicien won her eighth national title in the 100m hurdles, timing 12.80. Felicien defeated rival Priscilla Lopes-Schliep, who was second in a performance of 12.95. Recently graduated Illini Nikkita Holder also ran the 100m hurdles final, taking seventh (14.20). Senior-to-be Alecia Beckford-Stewart took 10th in the long jump (18-5).
