Women's Track
One of USA Track and Field’s hottest stars, Jenny Adams is entering her first season as a volunteer assistant coach for the Illinois women’s track and field team. Adams will work with the Illini hurdlers and jumpers this season as she trains with Illinois head coach Gary Winkler in preparation for the IAAF Grand Prix circuit. A native of Tromball, Texas, and a 2000 graduate of the University of Houston, Adams finished third at the 2002 USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in the 100 meter hurdles. In 2001, Adams was one of the United State’s most successful athletes winning the long jump crown at the 2001 U.S. Outdoor Championships, while finishing second in the 100 meter hurdles and the 400-meter relay. Adams later won the silver medal at the Goodwill Games in the 100 meter hurdles and ran a career-best time of 12.63 seconds to finish fifth in the hurdles at the World Track and Field Championships. Her collegiate career was equally successful as she won long jump national titles at the the 2000 NCAA Outdoor and 2001 NCAA Indoor National Championships.
