Melissa Kopinski, sophomore Allison Falkin, junior Rachael White and senior Amy Allin will take on competition from Duke, North Carolina, Purdue, Alabama, William and Mary, Texas, Miami, Ole Miss, Texas A&M and Virginia in a three-day format.
"It's our first fall tournament, so the four who are traveling are excited to get out and compete," Illini head coach Michelle Dasso said. "We went to Duke last year, and it was one of the best fall tournaments I've probably ever taken the team to, so that's why we're headed back. The players get four singles matches and a ton of doubles as well. You really can't beat that for a fall date. We get to face really good competition, so I'm looking forward to seeing how the girls respond."
The tournament will feature three draws of 16 players in singles action and will guarantee four matches to each player. Doubles play will consist of three draws of eight teams each and will allow each duo to play three matches regardless of results.
White checked in at No. 67 in the Campbell's/ITA preseason singles rankings. The first-team All-Big Ten honoree will look to continue her success from last year, along with second-team All-Big Ten selection Allin, who led the team in singles victories with 23 last season.
"The girls are really in a good place," Dasso said. "They work extremely hard. I think we have great upperclassmen and senior leadership with great team chemistry. We just have to keep improving, working hard and pushing ourselves on a daily basis."
