BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Illinois junior Allison Falkin rebounded after a second-round loss to play her way to the consolation title of the USTA/ITA National Summer Championships, Aug. 11-14, at Indiana University. Three other Illini, including incoming freshman Audrey O'Connor, junior Misia Kedzierski and sophomore Julia Jamieson joined Falkin in the four-day tournament.

"It was great those four were able to get matches in and will be a huge help for them this fall," Illini head coach Michelle Dasso said. "I think the whole team is anxious to be back together and kick off this year."

After a first-round bye, second-seeded Falkin fell to the consolation bracket after coming up just short in a 7-5, 2-6, (10-7) battle with Alabama's Yasmeen Ebada. The Roswell, Ga., native showed resiliency in the back draw, cruising through her first two matches with a pair of straight-set wins. Falkin took down fifth-seeded Elizabeth Kilborn (Georgia Tech), 1-6, 6-4, (11-9), to advance to the consolation final, where she breezed past ninth-seeded Crystal Leung (Columbia), 6-0, 6-3, to take the back-draw title.

Meanwhile, O'Connor, Jamieson and Kedzierski each won their opening matches before falling in round two. O'Connor managed to capture a consolation win but fell to Leung in the quarterfinals of the back draw.
