The Illini will travel to Duke for the ITA Kick-Off Weekend in January.

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - The Illini women's tennis team has selected Duke as its site for the fourth annual Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Kick-Off Weekend, Jan. 27-29 at the Sheffield Tennis Center in Durham. Joining Illinois at the site will be Winthrop and College of Charleston.
The No. 1 team at each site will face the No. 4 team, while the No. 2 team will face the No. 3 team. Illinois checks in as the three seed and will face No. 2 Winthrop in the first round. Top-seeded Duke, which finished at No. 3 in the final national rankings, will take on fourth-seeded College of Charleston. Each team is guaranteed two matches, as the two winners and losers from each match will square off the following day.
The 15 schools that win both of their matches at these events will then advance to the round of 16 of the ITA National Team Indoor Championship, held at the Boar's Head Sports Club in Charlottesville, Va., Feb. 10-13. The University of Virginia received an automatic bid for hosting the final rounds.
The top 15 nationally ranked teams in the final 2011 team rankings were chosen as host sites. The Illini finished at No. 72 with an overall record of 11-13 and tied for fifth (5-5) in the Big Ten.
