2006 Big 10 Women's Tennis - Information
Athletic Medicine
Training room facilities will be available for all participating student-athletes both at Atkins Tennis Center and the Illini Grove Tennis Courts. Please see the letter from Karen Iehl-Morse, Associate Athletic Trainer, in the back of this manual for more information regarding the medical services that will be available.
Awards
One large championship trophy will be awarded to the team champion at the end of the championship match on Sunday, April 30th. Championship t-shirts and hats will also be given to the Team Champion. At the Championship Banquet All-Conference awards as well as the Coach, Player, and Freshman of the Year awards will be presented. There will also be a trophy presentation recognizing the Regular Season Champion at the banquet.
Banquet
The Championship Banquet will take place at the Hawthorne Suites in the White Oaks Ballroom on Thursday, April 27th. The banquet will begin at 7:00 p.m. The cost of the dinner will be $25.00 per person. Support staff and family members are invited to attend but must be included in each institution's count and payment. Please see the Banquet Reservation Form located on page 13 of this packet to make your team's reservation. The reservation form should be returned to Holly Stalcup, Championship Director, by Monday, April 10, 2006. Payment for banquet may be sent prior to the event or turned in at the Banquet. Please make checks payable to the University of Illinois.
Coaches' Meetings
The six coaches representing the teams seeded #6 - #11 competing in the first round on Thursday, April 27th will meet on the evening of Wednesday, April 26th at 7:00 p.m. in the Executive Conference Room located on the 2nd Floor of the Bielfeldt Athletic Administration Building, just west of the Atkins Tennis Center. The Head Referee will be in attendance.
The Championship coaches' meeting will be held immediately following the Championship Banquet on Thursday, April 27th in the Champaign-Urbana room at the host hotel, Hawthorn Suites. The Head Referee will be in attendance.
Locker Rooms
The women's locker room is located in the North corridor of the Atkins Tennis Center. Players are welcome to use an open locker, however, locks will not be provided.
The women's locker room at the Champaign Park District Indoor Tennis Center is located in the East corridor. Again, players are welcome to use an open locker, however, locks will not be provided
There are no locker room facilities available at the Illini Grove Tennis Courts. Portable restrooms will be available for use at this site.

Merchandise
Tournament merchandise will be sold at Atkins Tennis Center. The Atkins Tennis Center Pro Shop will also have various name brand tennis apparel on sale.
Participant Gifts
All student-athletes competing in the Big Ten Championship will receive a participant gift complements of the Big Ten Conference.

Results
Coaches will receive updated results at the completion of each match. Fans not attending the Championship can visit the University of Illinois athletic website, www.fightingillini.com, for match updates every fifteen minutes. Results will also be available on the Big Ten Conference website, www.bigten.org.
Seeding and Draws
Line-ups must be received in the Conference office no later than 10:00 a.m. CST on Monday, April 24th. The Conference office will confirm the receipt of each institution's line-up at this time.
Team dual records and individual singles and doubles records of all play during the year must be received by the Championship Manager, coaches, and Conference office by 10:00 a.m. CST on Monday, April 24th.
All eleven teams shall be seeded and placed in the draw according to the predetermined positions for each seed. If byes occur, byes shall be given to seeded teams in rank order.
There will be a seeding call via a telephone conference call, initiated by the Big Ten Conference at 2:00 p.m. CST on Monday, April 24th. Challenges to the line-up shall occur during the seeding call.
Spectator Entrances, Parking, and Admission
At the Atkins Tennis Center:
Spectator parking is available in the grass lot located on the North side of the Atkins Tennis Center accessible from Kirby/Florida Avenue, free of charge. Spectators should enter the Atkins Tennis Center at the North end of the facility weather permitting.
At the Illini Grove Tennis Courts:
The Illini Grove Tennis Courts are a public facility located on the University of Illinois campus. Spectators can park at any of the monitored metered spots in the parking lot located just West of the facility accessible from Dorner Drive or at any of the monitored metered spots on one of the surrounding streets. There is no designated entrance to this facility.
At the Champaign Park District Indoor Tennis Center:
Spectator parking is available in the Champaign Park District Indoor Tennis Center parking lot free of charge.
Admission to all matches will be FREE.
Stringing Services
A stringing service is available at the Atkins Tennis Center at a cost of $12.00 per racquet. String is an additional cost for individuals who do not bring their own. Several name brands of string are on sale in the Pro Shop. Please ask the Atkins Tennis Center desk staff for more information.
Team Parking
At the Atkins Tennis Center:
Parking for participating teams has been reserved in the Atkins Tennis Center main parking lot located off of St. Mary's Road. Coaches will receive a parking pass for this lot at the first coaches' meeting they attend, either on Wednesday or Thursday night.
At the Illini Grove Tennis Courts:
Participating teams should plan to park at one of the bagged metered spots in the parking lot located just West of the Illini Grove Tennis Courts, off of Dorner Drive.
At the Champaign Park District Indoor Tennis Center:
The Champaign Park District Indoor Tennis Center has a parking lot available for participating teams.
Towels and Ice
Ice and towels for the championship will be provided at all locations.

Uniforms
Each institution's athletes shall wear only the University's official equipment (warm-ups, competition equipment) as covered by the Conference and NCAA rules.
Inclement Weather Plan
In case of inclement weather, those matches taking place at the Atkins Tennis Center will move indoors. Those matches taking place at the Illini Grove Tennis Courts will move to the Champaign Park District Indoor Tennis Center.
