Sophomore Kristina Minor
March 12, 2008
In the ninth edition of the Illini 2008 Blog, sophomore Kristina Minor updates you with the Illinois women's tennis team and the aftermath of their first Big Ten win against Purdue last weekend.
Illinois returns to action this Wednesday, March 12, at 2:30 p.m. CT, 3:30 p.m. ET, against Notre Dame in South Bend, Ind.
Hey there Illini Fans! The freshmen needed a break from writing, so I'm taking over for this week's blog. So I have to start off by saying WE KICKED SOME PURDON'T HINEY! ?. First Big Ten match, first Big Ten win ... what can I say, life is good for the Illini!
I also want to give out huge props to our Illini fan base for your constant support and cheering. Thanks to your help, the Illini to Boiler fan ratio was at least 4:1. That kind of support in their "house" is more appreciated than I can ever put into words. And, just as a small side note, Illinois is ranked third in the country in largest average attendance to home matches! So way to go Illini!
Well after a great weekend, we had to go back to work, but with a little fun mixed in. Coach Dancer (Illinois head men's tennis coach), and Coach Dasso decided to create a little "Battle of the Sexes" game of tag -- one at a time we each had 10 seconds to tag one of the guys. And of course, the girls dominated! It's our new favorite game!
So all in all, we're riding pretty high off life right now. We can't wait to go back to our coach's alma mater and take out some Fighting Irish. Right now, we are in the turtle-top driving to Notre Dame, and we're getting to the best part of "I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry"
So until next week...ILL- INI!!
