Coach Dasso coached her team to victory

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Fighting Illini women’s tennis team defeated No. 36 Yale Saturday at the Blue Gray National Tennis Classic. The Illini took the doubles point and carried that momentum through singles.
“It was a total team effort as every single person contributed in singles and doubles,” said head coach Michelle Dasso. “Allison’s comeback and performance playing to win under the lights tonight was inspiring to say the least.I told her before she started her third set tiebreaker that she deserved this win. She responded immediately and said ‘we deserve this win.’ When this team plays as one unit we are tought to beat.”
The Illini took the doubles point quickly with wins by Kopinski/Casati and Kedzierski/Kwong winning their matches 6-2, 6-4, respectively.
The Orange and Blue continued their success through singles with wins from Louise Kwong, Jerricka Boone, and Allison Falkin. Falkin had the match of the day, coming back to win 7-6, 6-1, 11-9 over Yale’s Hamilton. Kwong won her match 6-1, 6-1 and Boone defeated her opponent 6-4, 6-0.
Illinois will continue play at the Blue Gray Classic on Sunday against the winner of the Oklahoma State vs Tulane match.
