Went 12-5 in four professional tournaments, earning her first 4 1/2 WTA points and a 973 world ranking
Won 2002 ITA national summer circuit doubles championship with her sister, Katie, who plays at Wisconsin
Won ITA Midwest Regional doubles championship along with Michelle Webb; qualified for ITA National Indoors
Made the NCAA Tournament field; reached Round of 16 in doubles with Webb
She and Webb set the Illinois record for most doubles wins in a season: 31
Won the team's Fighting Illini Spirit award
Top singles win came against 15th-ranked Amanda Johnson in Illinois' upset of No. 1-ranked Duke

Qualified for the NCAA tournament, becoming the first Illini to do so since Lindsey Nimmo in 1993
Nationally ranked in singles throughout the year, ascending as high as No. 38 and finishing the year at No. 57
Played at No. 1 singles, compiling 24-16 overall record while going 6-4 in Big Ten play
Registered a 6-4, 6-2 decision over Janet Bergman of Wake Forest who was ranked 12th nationally
Competed at Nos. 1 and 2 doubles and finished 17-16 overall and 6-5 in Big Ten matches
Ended the campaign ranked 2nd regionally in singles

Soon before arriving at Illinois, she played with current teammate Michelle Webb and won the doubles title at the Indiana University summer circuit tournament

She and classmate Tiffany Eklov tied for the team lead with 10 singles wins in the fall (both had 10-5 marks)
Posted a 7-5 fall doubles record
Made it to the main draw singles final at the season-opening New Mexico Invitational
