    Adam Chervin returns as a volunteer assistant coach with the Illinois women's tennis program, after a previous stint from 2003-04.

    A high school standout at Waukegan High School, he and his brother teamed up to win the doubles sectional his sophomore year before being eliminated at the state tournament by a duo that included Jeff Laski, who would go on to become an All-American at Illinois.

    Chervin's singles ranking (second year of 18s) reached as high as No. 6 in the Chicago District of the USTA.

    Chervin earned his bachelor's (with distinction) and master's degrees, both in biology, from Illinois. He graduated in May 2009 with a Ph.D. in biochemistry, working on the immune system and is continuing his research as a post-doctoral researcher in the lab of Dr. David Kranz.
