CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - Following their 174-124 win over the Iowa Hawkeyes last week on the road, the Fighting Illini hope to continue their winning ways at home at IMPE pool this weekend.

In back-to-back meets this weekend, Illinois will host Oakland University at 5 p.m. on Friday followed with a showdown against Rice on Saturday at noon. Last year, the Illini defeated Oakland 136-102 in the first meeting between the two schools. The Golden Grizzlies of Oakland posted a 4-8 record last season. On Saturday, UI will have its first meeting with Rice. who went 4-5 last year.

"It's always nice to have some home meets early," Head Coach Jim Lutz said. "We are looking forward to some good competition and quality outcomes for our fans."

Last week, the Illini were led by senior Traci Bollinger who won both the 50 and 100 yard freestyle. Also making a splash was freshman Alison Czmarko, who placed first in the 100 yard backstroke and second in the 200 yard backstroke.

"I'm pleased with our preformance to start the season," Lutz said. "I thought we could have gone a little harder to the wall, so we are looking to race tougher as the season progresses."

Both home meets are at IMPE Pool and have free general admission.
