The Orange and Blue Intersquad meet scheduled for Saturday the 8th of October will be Illinois' first taste of competition in preparation for their first outside meet of the year October 14th against Kentucky. Not only is the Orange and Blue meet good for preparation, but since arriving on campus the team has been practicing and are anxious for competition.
BACKGROUND
Each year the coaches hold a freshman draft- splitting the freshman onto the two teams. Once an athlete is on a team, they remain on that team for their entire career.
ORANGE TEAM
This year, the Orange team is coached by head coach Sue Novitsky and student coach Kirsten Koepcke and consists of:
BLUE TEAM
The Blue team is coached by assistant coach, Steve Farnau, and diving coach, Billy McGowan and is comprised of:
PAST PERFORMANCES
Last year, the Blue team defeated the Orange team 148-83. Standout performances included Orange team diver Abbey Bernardo who took first in the 3 meter, diving a meet record 285.60. In addition, four Blue team members, (Barbie Viney, Christina Brunka, Kathryn Easey and Meghan Farrell) took first place finishes in each of their respected strokes.
