Junior Marissa Clapp earned three natioal time standards.

Evanston, Ill. - Nine current Illini swimmers competed in the 2007 Speedo Illinois Swimming Senior Championships in Evanston, Ill., July 13-15th. Six members of the Orange and Blue helped Illinois Aquatics win the 39-team women's division, while the three other Illini swam for different clubs. Illinois team members, won nine out of the 14 individual events. Illinois Aquatics took eight of the individual victories and won two out of the three relays.
Junior Marissa Clapp had an outstanding meet winning t he 200 backstroke, 200 breaststroke, 200 individual medley, and 400 individual medley titles. Her 200 breaststroke time of 2:37.82 was a 2007 Conoco Phillips Senior National time standard. Clapp will compete in that event at the national championships the first week in August in Indianapolis, Ind. In addition, her times in the 200 breastroke, and 200 individual medley were both Junior National qualifying times. Clapp swam four lifetime bests in the six events she competed in at the event.
Junior Lindsey Shirley set a new school record in the 1500 freestyle with a time of 17:40.77. She rounded out the competition with victories in the 800 and 400 freestyle, while finishing second in the 200 freestyle.
Other Illini champions included sophomore Jen Ivarson in the 200 butterfly and sophomore CeCe Marizu in the 100 backstroke.
