CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - The Illinois swimming and diving team concluded the 2008-09 season with an awards banquet recognizing the student-athletes for their work in the pool and the classroom. In addition to those awards senior standout swimmer Marissa Clapp was honored during the University of Illinois commencement with the prestigious Bronze Tablet University Honor.

Clapp concluded her career at Illinois with a 3.89 cumulative grade-point average in kinesiology. In order to receive Bronze Tablet honors students must have a 3.5 minimum cumulative grade-point average through the academic term prior to graduation and rank in the top three percent of students in their graduating class. Following in the tradition dating back to 1925, Clapp's name will be inscribed in the 2009 Bronze Tablet, which will be hung in the Main Library.

For her outstanding achievements in the classroom, Clapp was further recognized with the Illinois Female Scholar Athlete Award for earning the top grade point-average among senior student-athletes. She also was the recipient of CSCAA Honorable Mention Academic honors and Academic All-Big Ten honors for her work during the 2008-09 academic year. Clapp received both awards all four years of her career at Illinois.
