CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - The Fighting Illini swimming and diving team earned the Fall 2012 Scholar All-America Team Award, which is presented each semester by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America to teams that maintain at least a 3.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale. Illinois tied for the 28th-highest GPA among women's division I swimming and diving teams and led the Big Ten with a 3.40 GPA.

"Once again, the team continues to excel in the classroom and represent the high academic standards that you expect to see at the University of Illinois," Illini head coach Sue Novitsky said. "The team takes great pride in the hard work that they put into their courses and they reap the rewards of that effort. I would like to thank our academic counselor, Melinda McCormick, the staff at Irwin and the administration for providing the support to help the student-athletes succeed."
