CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - The Fighting Illini swimming and diving team earned the Fall 2010 Scholar All-America Team Award, which is given annually by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America each semester to teams that maintain at least a 3.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale. Illinois posted the 29th-highest GPA among women's Division I swimming and diving teams with a 3.39 GPA.
"Once again I am extremely proud of the effort and dedication that the swimmers and divers put into their academics," head coach Sue Novitsky said. "The team takes great pride in securing one of the highest grade point averages in the country and their hard work has paid off again. I would also like to thank the administration and staff at the Irwin Academic Center for their consistent support and for providing the student-athletes with the resources they need to have success in the classroom."
