CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - The Fighting Illini swimming and diving team will travel to Madison, Wis., this weekend for its final dual action of the season. Illinois (2-4) will battle No. 13 Minnesota (7-0), Purdue (5-1) and Wisconsin (5-6) in the two-day Big Ten Quad Meet, beginning on Friday at 3:30 p.m. CT.
"This week is a tremendous opportunity to race and compete against some strong competition," Illini head coach Sue Novitsky said. "I want to see them put themselves in the race and compete hard. In addition, we will be looking at the little things in their races. Our goal is to make their meet-day routines as refined as possible in order to help them stay calm and focused before a race."
The Illini are coming off a 194-106 loss to Nebraska on Jan. 26. Sophomore Alison Meng captured her sixth 100 back win of the season in the defeat, while senior Kathleen Knight earned her fifth 200 fly title of the year.
Minnesota pushed its undefeated record to 7-0 after defeating North Dakota on Jan. 25, while Purdue suffered its lone dual loss of the season to Indiana on Jan. 26. Wisconsin is coming off a trip to Charlottesville, Va., where the Badgers took down Virginia Tech, 206-159, but were defeated by Virginia, 182-176.
