The Illini placed fourth at the Indiana Invite with strong performances from senior Marissa Clapp and junior CeCe Marizu.

Bloomington, Ind. - The Fighting Illini concluded the Indiana Invite after competing in six events Saturday morning to earn a final score of 186.5. Tennessee finished first in the two-day meet with a score of 1454. Following close behind was Indiana in second with 1294.5 points and Michigan in third with 714 points.
"Overall I thought we came back and had another solid session," head coach Sue Novitsky said. "The girls had smart races this morning and really worked at cleaning up the details of their performances."
In the final session senior Marissa Clapp swam hard to finish third in the 200 breast with a time of 2:18.80. Junior CeCe Marizu had a strong performance to earn sixth in the 200 back (2:04.10).
In the 1650 free freshman Torrey Loper and junior Amy Forsberg swam to 10th (17:33.23) and 12th (17:42.26) places, respectively. Junior Jen Ivarson finished 14th in the 200 fly (2:07.55) and was followed close behind by sophomore Ann Miller in 17th (2:08.78), senior Ali Keehn in 18th (2:08.84) and junior Kelly Smithwich in 19th (2:10.08).
To conclude the meet the Illini finished sixth in the 400 free relay (3:32.72). The relay was swam by junior Anna Johnson and freshmen Laura Adrian, Kelly Kunkel and Meghan Mason.
The Illini return to action Saturday, Jan. 17 at 11 a.m. when they host the Iowa Hawkeyes at ARC pool in Champaign.
