Bismarck-Henning standout, Marissa Clapp swam the 200 breast at the USA National Swimming Championships today, crushing her previous career best by four seconds and qualifying in U.S. Open cut time in 2:40.66.

Illini teammate Kathryn Easey finished 57th overall in a time of 2:48.08.

Head Coach Sue Novitsky commented on the day,

"This was a good start for us. Nationals are always a good meet and I am really proud of Marissa; it being her first Nationals. The 200 breast is a quick event, so now we have to continue to stay focused until we can get in the pool again."

Clapp has little time to celebrate, as she will be back in the pool participating in the 400 IM tomorrow.

US Nationals are swum on long course. Times are subject to course.
