March 22, 2003
Champaign, Ill. - Illinois Junior Ilkay Dikmen completed competition at the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships, on the campus of Auburn University at the Martin Aquatic Center Saturday morning, participating in the 200 breaststroke event as the only representative of the Illinois swimming and diving at the NCAA Championships.
Dikmen finished 28th in the 100 breast, and also earned honorable mention All-American honors in the 200 breast event last year at the 2002 NCAA Championships in Austin, Texas.
"I thought she was probably more aggressive today than she was yesterday," head coach Sue Novitsky said. "This weekend was a good experience for her and our program. She should benefit from this weekend's events."
Dikmen finished 30th in the 200 breast prelims, posting a mark of 2:16.97.
