    Ilkay Dikmen enters her second year as student coach for the Fighting Illini. This summer it was Dikmen's fourth year swimming for the Turkish National team where she won seven national championships and broke six national records. She set one of her national records in her hometown of Izmir, Turkey in the 200 breaststroke at the World University Games. Dikmen graduates in December.

    The former Illini breaststroker finished up her brilliant career as the school record holder in the 100 and 200 breaststroke. She set three IMPE pool records (two 100 breast and 200 breast). In her senior year she broke a pool record at Wisconsin during the Big Ten Quad meet in the 200 breast. Throughout her career she was a two-time Honorable Mention All-American. In 2004 she was a member of the Turkish Olympic Team and carried the Olympic Torch through Istanbul that summer. In the summer of 2004 she finished 15th in the 200 breast at the NCAA Championships. In 2003 she competed in the World Championships at Barcelona, Spain, July 21-26 and won four Turkish national titles in the 50 breast (34.22), 100 breast (1:12.68), 200 breast (2:34.79) and 200 IM (2:23.30) in 2003.

    2002-03 - Earned a spot on the Turkish World Championships team for a second time ... Competed in the 2003 World Championships at Barcelona, Spain, July 21-26 ... Competed in the Turkish Nationals from July 3-6 ... Won four national titles in the 50 breast (34.22), 100 breast (1:12.68), 200 breast (2:34.79) and 200 IM (2:23.30) ... She recorded under the Olympic B qualification times in the 100 and 200 breast ... Her club team Fenerbache won the national title ... Advanced to the NCAA Championships for the second time in the 100 and 200 breast ... Met the "B" standard in both the 100 and 200 breast at Big Tens ... Finished fifth in the 100 breast and seventh in the 200 breast at the Big Ten Championships ... Broke IMPE pool record and won the 100 breast with a 1:04.18 and the 200 Breast in 2:16.33 on the same day against Ohio State and Iowa in a dual meet ... Won both the 100 and 200 breast in a dual meet against Notre Dame and Michigan ... Finished first in the 200 breast at the Daktronics Invitational in Irvine, Calif and at the Miami Invitational ... Took first in the 100 fly against Illinois State ... Won the 100 and 200 at Indiana ... Was part of the 200 medley relay team that finished second in the record books with a time of 1:43.64 set at the Big Ten's.

    2001-02 - Advanced to the NCAA Championships for the first time, earning honorable mention All-America honors in the 200 breast with a 15th place finish ... Also swam to 28th place in the 100 breast at the NCAA meet ... Earned a spot on the Turkish World Championships team ... Competed in the 50, 100 and 200m breast at the World Championships in Fukuoka, Japan, July 22-29 ... Reset her Turkish national records in the 50, 100 and 200 breast this summer ... Met the "B" standard in both the 100 and 200 breast at Big Tens ... Placed sixth in the 100 breast and fourth in the 200 breast at the Big Ten Championships ...     2000-01 - Started competing for Illinois in the second semester after taking the fall off to compete in the Sydney Olympic Games ... Swam NCAA ÔBÕ standards in the 100 and 200 breaststroke but ended up not making the cut for the NCAA Championships ... Took sixth place in the 200 breast at the Big Ten Championships with a time of 2:15.51 ... Placed eighth in the 100 breast at the Big Ten Championships with a time of 1:03.97 in the finals ... Swam team top five times in the 100 breast, 200 breast and 200 IM and was a member of the top 200 medley relay team ... Owns the second-fastest times in school history in the 100 (1:03.81) and 200 breast (2:15.51), the third-fastest mark in the 50 breast (30.25) and the 10th-best time (2:07.14) in the 200 IM ... Won the 100 breast at the Big Ten Quad meet in a time of 1:05.11.
