The Fighting Illini close out the fall exhibition season this weekend with five home games at Eichelberger Field. The weekend begins with a matchup against cross-town team Parkland at 4 p.m. on Friday, a game that was rescheduled from Sept. 20. The Illini host their annual Alumni Game on Saturday morning beginning at 9:30 a.m. as a way to kick off a long day of Illinois athletic events, including football, volleyball and basketball's Illini Street Jam.
The Orange and Blue wrap up the fall on Sunday with a round robin against Heartland and DePaul. Illinois will face Heartland at 10 a.m. and DePaul at 3 p.m., with the neutral matchup being played in between at approximately 12:30 p.m. Admission to all softball events is free.
To kick off alumni weekend, let's take a look at what some of the Illini alumni have been up to since leaving Champaign-Urbana:
Lana is a physical therapy tech at Baylor Medical Center at Uptown in Dallas. Lana and her fiance, Sam, will be getting married October 5, 2013. Sam's boys, Aidan and Keegan, will become a part of Lana's family as well.
Sarah is a teacher at Stagg High School, where she also coaches tennis, basketball, and softball. Sarah has a Masters in Educational Leadership.
After completing an internship with the NCAA and Men's Final Four, Brooke accepted an offer from Bradley University to become the Director of Marketing and New Media in Athletics in May of 2013. She resides with her boyfriend, Moe Winstead, in Farmer City, Ill.
Ashley works for the IT department at MillerCoors as a Buisness Process Partner. Ashley lives in the South Loop of Chicago.
Shanna is the Director of Operations for the University of Texas Softball team and is living in Austin, Texas.
Brittany lives in Chatham, Ill., with her husband, Phillip, and daughter, Alice Ann. She is a stay-at-home mom and loving life!
Molly works at Kelly's Accounting Service in Monticello, Ill. Recently married, Molly resides in Monticello with her husband Patrick and their two dogs, Roxy Jo and Shelby.
Sydney is a NCAA compliance coordinator at Chicago State University.
Kerri works at BTN as a marketing manager. She is also getting her MBA part-time at Notre Dame. Keri resides in Chicago.
Chris is currently living in Oxnard, Calif., with her husband Jon. Chris teaches high school chemistry. She moved there in 2005 after getting married to Jon Gathman. Jon just finished his commitment with the Navy and is now working as a civilian at Point Mugu Naval Base.
Abby and her husband Andy live in Gridley, Ill., where she is a stay-at-home mom and Andy is the pastor at their church. They have four kids: Elly is four, Silas and Mercy are almost three (adopted from the Congo about a year ago), and Hudson is almost two years old.
Bridget lives in Osceola, Ind., with her husband, Randy, and her baby boy, Evan, who was born this past April, 2013. Bridget is starting her second year as the Assistant Athletic Director at Penn High School in Mishawaka, IN.
Annie is one of the Academic Counselors for Illinois football that specifically works with the offensive group. Other than her 100+ football "boys" she also has a son, Henry. Annie is married to her husband, Kelly.
Makenzie is a Race Director for Red Frog Events where she coordinates, plans, and executes events that draw 50,000+ participants and spectators over one weekend.
Ashley lives in West Hollywood. She has been working as a planner at Matrix Environmental since graduation writing environmental impact reports. Ashley also coaches a 12U travel softball team with former Illini Vicky Brown.
Laura lives on the North side of Chicago. She is married to her college sweetheart & former Illini football player, Scott Moss. She works for Nike in Brand Marketing and her husband works in finance for BP. Scott recently received an MBA from the University of Chicago.
