    URBANA, Ill. - Future Illini Kelley Wedel and Monica Perry participated in the Amateur Softball Association Gold National Championship last week in Oklahoma City, Okla. Wedel and the Corona Angels took home second in the nation out of the 64-team field, while Perry and the Georgia Elite finished 13th.

    Wedel, an infielder for the Angels, was an integral part of a defense that played eight consecutive games of the tournament without an error. In the circle for the Elite, Perry allowed just one run through her first 22 innings of work, finishing the tournament with a 1.85 ERA over 34 innings. Both student-athletes will don the Orange and Blue beginning this fall.
