URBANA, Ill. - The University of Illinois softball program and head coach Terri Sullivan announced the 2011 fall competitive slate on Friday. During the fall, the Illini will compete in six contests against collegiate opponents, including four games on Eichelberger Field.
The Illini open the fall with a contest against Kankakee on Sunday, Sept. 11, at 11 a.m. CT prior to taking on Parkland on Sunday, Sept. 18, at 11 a.m. After competing against Parkland, a 6 p.m. game against Heartland on Friday, Sept. 23 follows before the Orange and Blue host the annual Illinois Softball Alumni Day on Saturday, Sept. 24, featuring a contest between current and former Illini softball players.
Illinois concludes the home portion of fall ball against Valparaiso on Sunday, Sept. 25, at 1 p.m. before heading to Bloomington, Ill., for the State Farm Illinois Collegiate Softball Championship on Oct. 1-2. While in Bloomington, the Illini face Loyola-Chicago on Saturday, Oct. 1, at Noon before challenging Southern Illinois-Edwardsville at 5 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 2.
Admission to all softball contests held on Eichelberger Field is free.
