    Alice and Rex Martin behind home plate. Alice, who received her MBA from Illinois, has been a Loyalty Circle member of the I FUND for the past five years and has been eager to support a major project at her Alma Mater. Recently, the foundation announced a one-million dollar gift commitment to the Illinois softball program. The gift will allow Illinois to complete its softball complex and make it one of the finest in the nation. It will include the construction of a permanent press box, rest rooms, concession stand, and a clubhouse.

    The two first ladies of Illinois softball - Alice Martin and Shorty Eichelberger. The Rex and Alice A. Martin foundation has given the softball program a $1 million gift commitment to complete Phase II of the stadium. Once completed the complex will be known as Martin Stadium, while the field will continue to be called Eichelberger Field.
