Urbana, Ill. – The Fighting Illini softball team has a multitude of promotions planned for the upcoming weekend series with Indiana on April 19-21, making this weekend the perfect time to head out to Eichelberger Field to catch a game or three. This weekend’s events include Daddy/Daughter Date Night on Friday, Kids Take Over the Ballpark and Bark in the Park on Saturday, and Team Day and a post-game clinic on Sunday.

When the Illini host Indiana at 6 p.m. on Friday, April 19, bring your dad (or your daughter) for the perfect Daddy/Daughter Date Night. The marketing team will have a fun in-game promotion, “The Ultimate Daddy/Daughter Contest,” and a special Date Night Meal will be available at the concession stand. Additionally, pairs are invited to stay after the game for a Q&A with the Fighting Illini.

Saturday’s game, scheduled for 2 p.m., will be chock full of fun, as it will feature both Kids Take Over the Ballpark and Bark in the Park. Fans are encouraged to bring their dogs (and perhaps their allergy meds) to Eichelberger Field Saturday. For more information, click here.

When kids take over the ballpark, young Illini fans (eighth grade and below) will have the opportunity to help out with all kinds of Eichelberger Field operations, such as announcing, operating the scoreboard, playing music, running promotions and more. Participating children will be provided with an exciting, hands-on, behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to run the show at Eichelberger Field. To register, click here.

Sunday is team day at Eichelberger Field. Come with your softball team and enjoy unique promotions such as a special tour of the Illini Clubhouse. Teams are encouraged (but not required) to come in uniform to show off their team spirit. To register as a team, click here.

Following Sunday’s game, kids eight grade or younger are encouraged to stick around for the Illinois Softball Youth Clinic. Young Illini will get the chance to learn from the best, as Illinois Softball team helps fans to hone their skills with games and drills. This is an opportunity you won’t want to miss, so bring your gloves and prepare to play. Parents of interested fans will need to fill out a waiver prior to participation, which can be found here.

If you can’t make it out to the ballpark this weekend, there is still plenty of fun in store, as the Tenth-Annual World’s Largest Softball Tailgate returns to Eichelberger Field on Saturday, May 4. This year’s tailgate features a Kentucky Derby theme and will be complete with food, music, and pony rides. This is the premier promotion in college softball and something you will not want to miss!
