Urbana, Ill. - Illinois softball is excited to announce that Nick Lynch will perform live at World's Largest Softball Tailgate XI, which will be held on April 5 prior to Illinois' 1 p.m. softball game against nationally-ranked Nebraska at Eichelberger Field. The Watseka, Ill., native is, "A little bit country, a little bit rock and roll, but he is all party," and has performed on such stages as American Idol and ABC's Countdown Chicago 2014 to ring in the New Year. Earlier this month, Lynch appeared on ABC's Windy City Live.

The country music star recently released his first independent original album, entitled The Reason, which is available now on iTunes. In addition to original tracks, Lynch enjoys covering the hits, with a repertoire varying from Kenny Chesney and Florida Georgia Line, to Kings of Leon, the Black Crows and even Cee Lo Green.

Lynch's voice reflects the rough but pure sound of his blue collar, small town upbringing in nearby Watseka. At times he shows a unique rasp to his high notes reminiscent of Don Henley, yet he consistently displays the range and versatility needed to cover many different genres. He has the classic rock & roll edge of Bob Segar with the new country swagger of a Dierks Bentley. He refined his vocal skills with world-renowned vocal coach Mark Goff (Backstreet Boys, N'Sync, Christina Aguilera, Scott Staap), and has put together a combination of astounding musicians that makes for an incredible live show that will keep fans wanting more. He has been asked to open for national acts, such as Chris Cagle, and is a regular at country hot-spots like Toby Keith's.

Awarded the best single-game promotion for an Olympic sport by the Big Ten Conference in 2007, this year's World's Largest Softball Tailgate will mark the 11th annual tailgate extravaganza, an event which has averaged 1,000 fans in attendance over the past decade. In addition to live music, WLST will feature inflatables and other kid's activities, along with a vintage jersey sale, where fans can purchase jerseys from every year of Illini softball dating back to the inaugural season in 2000. Additionally, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in the "Diamond in the Rough" promotion, where one lucky fan will win an authentic diamond, courtesy of Christopher & Co. Fans are encouraged to start their tailgates at 10 a.m., with Nick Lynch and his band taking the stage at 11 a.m.
