Illinois' Final Game in California Cancelled

March 2, 2014

Lakewood, Calif. - Continued rain in Southern California has rendered the field at Mayfair Park unplayable this morning, so the Fighting Illini's final game of the weekend at the Lousiville Slugger Invitational has been cancelled. Illinois was originally scheduled to play No. 5 UCLA today, but all the rainouts led to a new Sunday schedule with the Orange and Blue slated to face Long Beach State. Nevertheless, the Illini will return home to Champaign without the opportunity to play an official game.

Illinois completes its travel tournament slate next weekend, with a trip to Boca Raton, Fla., to play in the FAU Tournament hosted by Florida Atlantic. Illinois will play two games against nationally-ranked South Alabama, along with one game each against FAU and Hofstra on March 8-9.
