Raleigh, N.C. - Raleigh, N.C.- Illinois gained their 100th victory all-time tonight in grand fashion, literally. Junior, Katie O'Connell blasted a two-out grand slam that gave the Illini a 9-0 win in five innings over St. Johns. Following their 100th win they celebrated their 101st win in convincing fashion of 12-1 against Liberty. The Illini are now 101-64 all-time in their early fourth season. In the first game that featured really wet conditions, the Illini managed to pick up where they had left off in Texas. Erin Jones led the team going three for three at the plate and scoring three runs. But the story of this game was the sound pitching performance of Amanda Fortune. The junior went all five innings only allowing two hits, while striking out five. Fortune is now 2-0 on the season.

The second game of the night was more like home run derby for the Illini. Five home runs were featured by the Illini in this game, including O'Connell again, which had earlier sealed the first game with a grand slam. Juniors Janna Sartini, Lindsey Hamma, sophomore Jami Bradley, and freshman Jenna Hall all went deep. Overall the Illini in this game were dominate offensively hitting anything that came their way.

Jacklyn Diekemper finished the Flames in her five innings of duty only allowing one hit and striking out eight. Diekemper picks up the second win in her freshman season.

The Illini improve to 5-0 on the season and return to action Saturday morning at 9:30 a.m.(Est) against the UNC Charlotte 49ers. In the afternoon bracket play is to begin but game times are TBA due to weather conditions.
