Danielle Zymkowitz is in her first season as a student assistant coach with the Fighting Illini following a stellar four year career representing the Orange and Blue. Zymkowitz will assist in all aspects of the program while completing her undergraduate work at Illinois, helping in the development of the Illinois bats while also working on basepath and fielding skills.
From 2008-11, Zymkowitz was the starting second baseman for the Fighting Illini, earning First Team All-Big Ten during her sophomore, junior and senior seasons while becoming the first two-time NFCA All-America honoree in program history. At the completion of her four seasons, Zymkowitz owned the Illinois career records for batting average (.384), hits (277), run scored (202), stolen bases (91), stolen base attempts (106) and stolen base percentage (.858).
In addition to her work with the Illini, Zymkowitz earned a spot on the Chicago Bandits roster following the 2011 collegiate season and played an integral role in the Bandits earning the National Pro Fastpitch (NPF) Championship. Zymkowitz batted .298 on the season, the sixth-best on the year across all of the NPF, scoring the eighth-most runs (16) in the leauge while driving in 10 more against All-American pitchers such as Cat Osterman, Danielle Lawrie and Kristina Thorson.
