CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - The Illinois women's soccer team earned the NSCAA Team Academic Award for the 2012-13 academic year, announced the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) on Thursday. The Illini received the honor for the 13th straight year for posting a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

Head coach Janet Rayfield's squad notched a 3.49 GPA, the second-highest mark in the Big Ten behind Nebraska (3.57). A total of 593 women's soccer teams were honored with the award.

Illinois will play Portland in the second round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday at 11 a.m. in Lincoln, Neb.
