CHAMPAIGN Ill. - Illinois soccer junior Krystin Miller was named to the ESPN the Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-District 5 Women's Soccer Team, receiving second team honors when the accolades were announced last night. Illinois has now had a representative on the Academic All-District team for two consecutive seasons, with Marti Desjarlais earning the honor last year.
Miller is a molecular and cellular biology major with a 3.89 GPA, earning Academic All-Big Ten honors as a sophomore last year. She has stepped up to become a consistent presence in the Illini defense, as one of just four players to start every match this season. The Berkey, Ohio native is also a penalty kick specialist, converting her opportunities against Illinois State and Iowa to score the first two goals of her career.
The Illini close out their final home weekend of the season tonight, hosting Michigan State at 7 p.m. at the Illinois Soccer Stadium. The Orange and Blue will then host Michigan at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 1.
