CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - Illinois senior forward Ella Masar was named Big Ten Co-Offensive Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Monday. Masar earned the award for the second time in her career after notching two goals in the Illini's opening weekend of play.

Masar netted her first goal in third minute of Illinois' season opener against Missouri, giving the Illini a 1-0 advantage over the visiting Tigers. The Urbana, Ill., native also opened the scoring in the Illini's match against Xavier on Sunday, punching one into the net in the sixth minute as the Orange and Blue cruised to a 5-0 victory. With the two goals, Masar is now eighth on Illinois' all-time list with 17 and sixth in school history with 51 total points.

Masar received the honor the first time on Oct. 2, 2006, after she scored two goals en route to Illinois' 3-2 victory over No. 9 Penn State.

Masar and the Illini (1-1-0) will head west this weekend, traveling to Los Angeles for the UCLA Women's Cup. Illinois will face the No. 3/2 UCLA Bruins on Friday at 7 p.m. CT, and round out the weekend against Cal State Northridge on Sunday at 1 p.m. CT.
